Abstract

The use of biliary stent has become increasingly common in clinical practice. Sigmoid colon perforation from a migrated biliary stent is a rare complication. A high level of suspicion is essential for an adequate diagnosis, in which surgery have an essential role. We present a case of choledocholithiasis treated by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with a biliary plastic stent placement. Subsequently, presents to the Emergency Department with sigmoid colon perforation from migrated biliary stent. The patient was proposed to emergent laparotomy and Hartmann ́s operation was performed.
