Gastric stromal tumour: About a rare and serious complication

Abstract

Presentation and description of the clinic case of an 82 year old female patient admitted to the emergency room due to symptoms of epigastric pain and fever in whom was diagnosed a gastric tumor through gastric endoscopy. During the hospital stay, the patient presented a gastric perforation and septic shock, leading to the need for surgery. Peroperatively, an exofitic polipoid tumor was identified, and so, an wedge gastric resection was performed.

The pathologic examination revealed a high risk gastric stromal tumor, with perforation, CD117 (diffuse, membrane and dot) and CD34 (focal) imunorreactivity, as well as imunorreactivity absence for actin, S-100 protein and desmin.
