SPIEGEL’S VENTRAL HERNIA: CASE REPORT AND BRIEF LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

Spiegel’s hernia is an unusual and rare type among the several reported ventral hernias. It occurs through Spiegel’s fascia in the abdominal wall and is usually small, developing mostly during the fourth and seventh decade of life and requiring surgical repairs due to the risk of incarceration. This study reports a case of Spiegel’s hernia with its clinical, radiological findings and surgical outcome, in addition to presenting a brief review of the literature.
