Giant gastric phytobezoar with gastric ulcer by eating persimmons – a case report
Abstract
Several types of bezoars are described in the digestive tract. The authors present the infrequent case of a giant gastric phytobezoar in a 66-year old healthy woman, admitted for severe abdominal pain in a dragged bezoar framework resulting from the abundant intake of persimmons. The chemical dissolution and endoscopic removal were not successful. Because of being a bezoar with big dimensions and the existence of a gastric ulcer, she underwent a gastrotomy and extraction of the bezoar.
