Abstract

The evolution of minimally invasive surgery and its application to a increasing number of surgical procedures, requires that future surgeons master this technique, despite training difficulties. The development of basic laparoscopic skills, essential for the formation of residents in different surgical specialties, can be reliably performed outside the operating theater, through the construction of simple and inexpensive homemade simulators, following a structured and properly validated exercise plan.
