Parallel to the increase of the body mass index (BMI), there is also a rise of medical and psychosocial comorbidities, which carries a lower quality of life. Modification of lifestyle in order to revert obesity is considered the cornerstone of treatment. However, its efficiency is limited, whereat bariatric surgery has become increasingly an option of treatment. Unlike adult bariatric sur- gery, adolescent bariatric surgery lacks reflexion. Our goal is discuss actual recommendations (assessment, selection, surgery treatment and monitoring).
